International Language School Hits 75,000 Facebook Fan Mark!
Jan 30th
A leading international English language school, Kapalan, has reached a social media milestone by passing 75,000 fans on their Facebook page. That’s a lot of likes!
The school has seen a strong growth in engagement and the number of fans has rapidly increased since 2010. Just a few short months after reaching the 50,000 fan mark, the company celebrated reaching 75,000 fans this month.
Social media has played a large part in the school’s media mix, especially in 2012 which saw the launch of photo competitions, the Kaplan Journal, and the #KaplanExperience promotion on Instagram, which has created student winners worldwide. Kaplan’s social media team has a lot of activities planned for this year as well, including the Kaplan Talent Awards, which will encourage students from every language school to share their talents and skills with the rest of the world.
A member of their social media team, Ms. Francis, mentioned that they were very happy and grateful to reach 75,000 fans. The school loves speaking to current and prospective students on a daily basis, and so they have worked hard to create a social experience online just for them. The keys are sharing and creating content as well as providing information that they find engaging and useful.
In addition, students taking Kaplan English language courses can discover individual Facebook account for each of their schools and countries in multiple languages, bringing the total number of fans to more than 200,000. Each page aims to engage with students and Kaplan alumni, as well as those who are interested in traveling and learning English. Does your school use social media to communicate with students?
Sharing Student Experiences Physically Around The World!
Jan 26th
In this digital world of tweets and Facebook posts, Kaplan International Colleges, has taken a retro approach to sharing information. They have announced the launch of a new and nostalgic way for students to share their memories, the Kaplan Experience Journal. This will be a fun and vintage way for the students to document their experience and share it with their fellow students worldwide.
The Kaplan Experience Journal is an actual physical scrapbook, making its way around the world via several Kaplan English language schools. In order to give their students an opportunity to share their learning experience, the journal is slated to be shared in their English language schools across seven countries and three continents.
Each school will be completing two pages of the Journal with their own personal messages, from special memories they have of Kaplan, to memorabilia from a social activity. Once they have filled out the journal, they will then pass it on to the next school for them to repeat the process. What a fabulous way to document the international learning experience!
At the Kaplan English school in London, Russian student Alisa and Venezuelan student Karla started the Journal on its international journey with their contributions about their experiences. Its final destination will be at Kaplan’s Auckland school in New Zealand.
A spokesperson for the school said that their hope is the journal will create a sense of excitement among their students, and as well, build stronger connections and communities within the global Kaplan International network. There has been a great deal of enthusiasm about the project and they are excited to see the finished result. You can get updates about the Journal’s progress on the school’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. What an awesome idea!

Are you romantic when it comes to English?
Dec 21st
Just a few months before Valentines’ Day, Kaplan International Colleges has launched their “Language of Love survey” which aims to discover the romantic motivations behind language learning among other things. This short, ten question survey, asks some fundamental questions about the motivation behind learning a second language. Examples include: “Have you ever learned a language to impress a loved one?” and “What do you think is the most romantic language?” I can’t wait to see the results of this one!
According to the school’s online Marketing Executive, Mr. Martin Hofschröer, the survey is fun and should be enjoyable for all language learners around the world. “We hope that there will be some interesting results that we can share with the language learning community,” he said. There is alwaus something exciting going on for students who learn English with Kaplan!
Those responding to the survey will be entered into a prize drawing to win $100 worth of Amazon vouchers. The results will be compiled into an infographic scheduled to be published on, well, Valentines Day, of course! Do you want to try it? Just click here to take the survey…and good luck!
